The “mural” that I’ve been conceptualizing, building, and working hard on for what feels like forever. I have put every ounce of myself into this painting. This is not a self-portrait {I’ve been asked many times if it is}, but it does represent something very personal for me. The girl in the dress represents everything that my life is right now during this stage of it. I have an insanely blessed and happy life. I am so thankful for everything that God done in my life to make it this wonderful. The girl in the dress is beautiful, just like the present era of my life. The birds represent my past, both the dark things that I bid farewell and the things that I am leaving behind because it is time to move on. The background represents my future. It is mostly blank and slightly foreboding because it is unknown to me, while at the same time it is beautiful like the colors of a sunset because of the beautiful possibilities that the future holds. They are hard to see in the photo, but there are also wispy lines of white flowing through the background like wind that echo the color of the dress. These lines follow the birds and represent the connection that I have to my memories of the past. They also run through the background. This is symbolic of my intention to not loose touch with who I am now and my determination to become who I am meant to be as the future unfolds.
